14 Months!

Harper's 14th month seems to me like it's officially ending her being our little baby and moving into a toddler!  She is now walking all over the place though will still crawl depending on how fast she wants to get whatever she's after.  The most grown up thing we've got going on is Harper starts her mother's day out program at a local church! We had orientation one evening a couple weeks ago where all the parents got to watch the kids play for a bit and then we went into a separate room to hear all the rules.  As soon as we got there Harper began squirming to get down and then she was off without looking back twice.  She was all over that little room and it made me feel better that she didn't act nervous at all.  She will go 2 mornings a week from 8:30-11:30... the only thing that I'm still worried about is she has a hard time staying up that long without a nap... and she is miserable when she gets tired and can't sleep.  Their rule is they will 'only' let a child cry for 30 minutes straight and then they call the parents. lol.  That seems like a long time to me but I guess they are the experts.  One of her teachers is the wife of an attending I've been working with and he reported to me that they've nicknamed Harper the climber - not a big surprise!

Harper has mastered blowing kisses and will blow them to pretty much everyone.  She's also figured out an actual kissing noise.  One of our favorite new tricks is to ask her how old she is... she will hold up 1 finger on her left hand, but if that hand is occupied her slightly less coordinated right hand will hold up 1.5 fingers lol. I'd say we definitely have a future lefty.

The month of August was filled with a lot of work for me and not quite enough time for fun.  But I will say that this has definitely been good for Andy and Harper's little bond - they are big buddies now! And poor Andy works haaard on the weekend days that I work.  Grocery shopping/cleaning/laundry are big enough tasks alone and managing Harper on top of that is seriously demanding.

We did squeeze in a beautiful wedding, trips to the arboretum and pool, celebrating uncle david's birthday, visiting with both grandparents and finally getting to watch aunt olivia play soccer this season!  Harper especially loved seeing Olivia on the field... until she realized she wasn't going to be able to run out there to olivia and the soccer ball ;)  The only thing we missed this month is baby Claire bear's birthday!! Cause it hasn't happened :(  She was due Aug 30 and we are all still patiently waiting for her to decide to come out and play with us!!

Harper seems to have had less of an appetite lately and I'm not sure if it's her being more picky or just not wanting to sit still and eat.  She will eat a good breakfast and then lunch and dinner can be hit or miss.  We are finished nursing so she's taking whole milk a few times/day now.  Her favorite food right is still blueberries but she really favors all kinds of fruit over pretty much everything else.  I did give her a pb&j the other day cut into 4 squares... she took one bite and then took the bread apart to start licking the jelly. lol

A new thing for her this month is loving her stuffed animals.  She will sleep with one and when she finds one of her favorites she will squeeze it so tight, pat it's back and then give it a big kiss!  She's also giving us big hugs with her arms all around our neck... pretty darn sweet.

She's got 4 teeth on top, 2 on the bottom.  Still in all of her 12 month summer clothes though we've got the 18 month fall clothes washed and ready whenever it starts to get a bit cooler.  No clue how much she weighs or how long she is but I guess we will find out next month at her 15 month appt.

Here's a few pictures!
