We joined our local Y so that we could take the girls swimming some during the winter. We would've liked to do swim lessons again with EK like we did Harper but it would require both of us to be free as someone has to be in the water with Emma Kate the whole time so instead we've just been taking her to the pool and copying what the babies are doing on the other side ;) She's been underwater and does fine. She just hangs out in the water, splashing and kicking. It wears her our too - she often will take like a 2-3 hr nap after being at the pool!!
I worked a lot this past month it seems so she got some good bonding time with her Dad. They are definitely becoming better buddies :) She seems like she will be a pretty shy kid and currently her favorite people are Mom, Dad and our sweet nanny. She likes Harper of course as well but most strangers just get a stare down from her. And don't even think about trying to pick her up unless you want instantaneous waterworks! ha. She can turn it off though just about as fast as she turns it on if she makes her way back to her little comfort area.
We've passed around some more colds but she made it through with little problems. She's been sleeping better, usually crying once during the night at some point and we just go in and give her paci. Still no attempts to crawl but she finally is usually rolling as a means to get to things. Until recently if it was out of reach she was just like whatever, I'll find something else. Now that she realizes she can get to things if she really wants to it could be a game changer.
Her little tricks keep us so occupied. She has learned to clap and it is pretty sweet. She also will mimic you sticking your tongue in and out and then is so proud of herself when you compliment her ;) She still gives the sweetest little open mouth kisses and Harper usually gets the best ones :) Every night after bath we will read a book then give Dad and Harper kisses before I go feed her and Harper gets this giant slobbery mouth over half her face but she loves it!
At our doctor's appt I think she weighed 16 lbs 14 oz which dropped her down substantially in the percentiles. I think she is now around 30/40% for weight and length. She eats so much so I have no idea how she's not bigger but maybe she's going to end up being more similar to Harper in size... and just started out a couple pounds ahead?! Who knows.
Harper is 2.5 now and has a giant personality. The girl does not know a stranger and loves saying Hi to evvvvveryone she interacts with. She continues to do well with Emma Kate but I will say she struggles not being the center of attention. As we work more and more with Emma Kate on different things, Harper loves to demonstrate her skills as well. Or if Andy is sitting on the ground playing with EK Harper will just come up and jump on his back.. ha. She has turned into a little song bird and favorites for her to sing are the ABCs, Jesus Loves me, the UK fight song and Row row row your boat. I do this thing to her back that middle school girls do and to my surprise she told me it was my turn the other day and repeated the whole thing! I was impressed. She has a few shows she watches but faves right now are Super Why, Mickey and Daniel Tiger. Daniel Tiger seriously teaches kids things that are helpful.. ha, embarrassed to say that. There's an episode about how if parents go to work they always come back and Harper loves singing us that song - 'groooooownups come back'. We went on a date one night and they were in bed when we got home so the next morning we hear Harper singing that in bed after she woke up.
Loves getting her hair curled
