Harper and Andy went on a Vday Day date to Lowe's workshop for kids where they built a flower pot together. Apparently it went pretty quickly because as they walked out Harper asked if they could go on their date now ;) Mom and Emma Kate spent that time snuggling :) I know my days of napping together are limited so I have to do it while I can! The girls enjoyed their balloon and books and Harper ate Emma Kate's candy for her ;)
We got around a foot of snow which was about 8 inches too much for me. If I would've gotten some snowdays it would've been ok but unfortunately that was not in the cards for me. We did take the girls out a few times to enjoy the snow though before it got bitterly cold. Harper loved it... Emma Kate was undecided. As soon as you put her in her snow suit she stops moving, talking, etc though never cries. Surprisingly, we got another round of about a foot of snow a couple weeks later! Fortunately it was much warmer out and did not last nearly as long so that was welcomed :)
One of the biggest things that happened this month is our sweet nanny moved away. We cannot say how much we have loved her and the kids as well but we've found another who we think is going to be wonderful! Harper is all about hanging out with 'big girls' so she transitioned fine though Emma Kate took some time to warm up ;) Harper was only 18 months old the last time we changed nannies so we never really felt we had to explain why one was leaving... it was hard for us because we knew she didn't really understand why Miss Whitney was moving to the mountains :( But, I will say we've gotten super lucky again with our new nanny. She is the sweetest girl - she and her husband just moved to Lexington from South Carolina for his residency in orthotics/prosthetics and they will be here for two years. She also just graduated with her teaching degree but we're hopeful she'll just stay with us during their time in Lexington and!
Emma Kate has finally, finally gotten the hang of laughing and will do it quite easily :) Baby giggles are the sweetest. She loves performing her tricks for us and clapping for herself when we say good job but isn't much for demonstrating to the public. One night we asked her to blow a kiss and she immediately copied it... that trick is pretty intermittent but so sweet when she feels like performing. She loves to stand and play and does a great job of just hanging on to whatever toy she is at. She will cruise around the toy but definitely takes her fair share of topples. She still is not crawling! It just may not be in the cards for her ;) She will kind of act like she's scooting to get something then just lay down and roll to get whatever she wants. We've got a trip planned to Florida in a couple months and will spend a couple days at Disney. Anxious to see what stage of movement she will be in by then.
She still has big blue eyes and blondish hair. Sometimes her hair looks reddish to us but just kind of depends on the light. It's pretty fine but getting longer bit by bit. She has two cowlicks in the back so of course it is always standing straight up no matter what we do. I think one of her favorite times of day is right before bath. I'm not sure if she's just so excited to take a bath but she gets so giggly right beforehand and loves splashing in the tub with Harper.
I'm getting excited about a first birthday for our sweet girl - just started looking for some ideas today! :) Hard to believe we've been a family of 4 for almost an entire year!!

She loves to eat! chowing down on butternut squash risotto and broccoli here!
