One Month!

Her first month has flown by and baby Caroline is growing and changing!  She is definitely filling out and looks a ton like Harper to me.  She has lost a ton of hair on top of her head and as I was taking her 1 month pictures it reminded me so much of Harper as hers did that too.  She is getting so much more alert, loves to raise her head up when she's laying on my chest to try to look at me.

Life with three doesn’t feel entirely different, primarily because Caroline is super sweet, sleeps all the time and is very flexible as we try to keep up with the big girls’ schedules.  I’m trying to figure out what her ideal schedule is too but it’s hard when she’s never able to wake up from a nap on her own due to having to pick people up, get to dance, gymnastics, etc.  Fortunately she sleeps well in her carseat too at this point which makes traveling around town pretty easy!

She’s a great eater, she was up to 7 lbs 6 oz at her 2 week appointment and I would guess she probably weighs 8.5 lbs by now at least.  Her legs were so wrinkly when she was born just because there was no fat underneath them but they are definitely looking fuller.  She usually eats at least every 2-3 hrs during the day.  Overall she has been sleeping relatively well though we’ve had a little trouble just getting her to sleep initially.  She has been basically wide awake from about 8-10 at night and then finally settles down for good sleep at 11.  That’s a little too late for me so we’re trying to move her up earlier.  The plus of going to sleep at 11 is that she usually only wakes once at night, around 3AM.  Last night we got her to sleep around 8:30 and she was up from 12-1230 and again from 4-430 which really isn’t too bad!  She’s still in newborn clothes, diapers.  I have a lot of short sleeve newborn onesies but it’s been so cold that we really haven’t been playing outside much so she has about 6 sleeper outfits that she wears on repeat J   Fortunately it’s finally starting to warm up so we’ve been able to spend a lot more time outside

She’s not a fussy baby at all, may fuss for a little bit when I lay her down for her nap but it only lasts a couple minutes and is the no big deal at all.  Otherwise she fusses a bit if she gets really hungry and from time to time in the car as she’s about to pass out for a nap.  The chaos of hearing 3 kids simultaneously in the car just makes me laugh because if not it would probably make me cry ;)  Typically the big girls are really good about saying ‘shh’ to try to calm her when she cries but if they are tired too then all bets are off and the odds are everyone will end up in tears.

She’s had two sick sisters over the last few days so fingers crossed she stays healthy!!  Adding a third has been fun in the aspect of how much more Harper and Emma Kate are playing with each other.  They definitely do their fair share of fighting/picking at each other but for the most part they play really well which is pretty sweet J

We were so happy to have her around for Easter celebrations - of course she mainly napped for easter egg hunts, etc. but still fun to have her here :)  We also celebrated her baptism last weekend though technically that belongs in month 2 ;)  We’ve got 3 birthdays coming up to celebrate in the next few weeks and are super excited! J  Emma Kate is basically pumped for her birthday cake only J
