3 Months

Caroline's 3rd month has brought lots of excitement and changes!  She continues to be the sweetest baby ever for which I am so thankful.  While of course I love having a relaxed, content baby and I am especially thankful for the sake of our babysitter!  Which brings me to our next big change - mom is back to work :(

I am super, super sad about it but obviously it's what is best for our family right now.  Andy offered to make a paper chain that we could clip to count down the days until residency is over ;)  We did everything we could to prep for the transition but of course everyone has their moments.  The most difficult thing is that Caroline has decided she no longer will take a bottle.  We had a feeling this would happen because our sitter had to keep her for about 6 hours the week prior to me starting back and she wouldn't eat then.  I worked with her all day the Sunday before I returned and after fasting for about 13 hours she finally decided it was acceptable.  She took another just fine that day so I was hopeful we were in the clear.  On Wednesday, my first day back, she took one bottle that morning... but since then, nothing.  Sometimes she tries to push it out with her tongue or turn her head, sometimes she just holds it in her mouth smiling and sort of lets all the milk that has dripped in pour out of her mouth.  Even when there's milk in her mouth she doesn't really swallow it.

The rational side of me says 'if she's hungry enough she'll eat' but my poor mama heart just feels so sad thinking about her bawling all day until she gives up the fight.  Realistically, I know that having all three kids at home can be overwhelming at times and if there's a baby crying nonstop it can make it that much harder.  So, for now, I have been running home everyday over lunch and feeding her.  She's a smart cookie though and is making her own adjustments. While she had been basically sleeping through the night, she is now waking usually 2-3x/night to eat and just takes very long naps during the day.  Thankfully she is able to remain generally happy during the day, even when she's not eating!  So for this month... prayers please that this little girl decides bottles are ok!! :)

**These blogs take me a few days to write as I just update when I have time... but happy to report that she's finally take a couple bottles again so hoping it continues!! :) :) :) **

On to more positive things in our life!! We closed on our farm June 1!  Caroline has made many trips to the farm, sometimes napping in the car or else being toted around in the carrier.  The big girls love playing in the dirt or on the swing and are easy to snap pictures of so I always have to remind myself to take a pic of Caroline snoozing so she knows she was there too ;)

We've made plenty of pool trips which, for Caroline, consist of long naps in the carrier.  Anyone seeing a pattern??? I love getting snuggles one way or the other and the easiest way these days is when I'm carrying her in the Ergo!

Caroline's happiest time of day is usually her awake times during the morning.  She's not particularly unhappy later in the day but mornings are usually the best time to get smiles and coos :)  She sometimes get a second wind right before bed time too that gets us some good chats out of her.

I'm still pretty convinced she's going to end up looking a lot like Harper but we will see - her eyes are dark but something about them aren't completely brown? kind of hard to explain.  A lot of her dark hair has fallen out but is slowly starting to grow back :)  She's wearing mostly 0-3 or 3 month clothes but has definitely gotten a lot chunkier!

Sometimes it is hard to believe that we have THREE babies but being their parents is seriously the greatest blessing to Andy and me!  As I've returned to work all my patients comment on how 'I bet life sure changed for you' referring to having a baby recently.  Little do they know that it's actually number 3 and really not that different, just with a little more sweetness added in :)

Will hopefully add more pics soon! :)
