Baby Caroline is 10 months and a week old! Her first birthday is right around the corner which is crazy! Maybe it's the hair (or lack thereof) but I just don't see an almost 1 year old.
This past month was full of fun as we celebrated her first Christmas!! She of course loved all the tissue paper she could get her hands on. We were fortunate to have many Christmas celebrations with family and friends. We tried to spread out all of the 'traditional' Cmas activities we do so that it wasn't so jam packed right around Christmas and I think it worked out really well. Caroline got a towel and her own chair :) Of course she didn't need anything but I didn't want her big sisters asking why Santa left her out ;)
She busted through 3 new teeth so now has 2 on top and 2 on the bottom. She had been pretty fussy for a few days so I didn't realize how much they must have been bothering her because when the last finally came through she was an entirely different baby! She loves to grind them together and hear the noise they make. She also maybe?? has made a couple bite attempts at Emma Kate. Usually EK is pestering her or swiping her toys so Caroline just face plants into EK's leg and it appears she's trying to bite. I've never really had a 'biter' so hoping this passes without too much trouble.
Caroline still isn't crawling but has a little scoot she uses to get places. For a while she was only scooting backwards and that caused her significant frustration but now she has mastered the front scoot so can get to whatever she wants. We have so many tiny choking size toys for the big girls now so always have to keep an eye on her as she scoots along quite quickly. Overall though, I'd say she's pretty unmotivated to crawl because generally if she fusses or cries she gets picked up or one of her sisters dumps a basket of toys in front of her to play with.
A couple of things she is loving right now is to sit in front of the refrigerator and play with magnets and to play in the toy kitchen. She loves opening and closing the doors, banging the pots and pans. She also loves to be outside and with this unseasonably warm January we have been lucky to have a lot more outside time. She is content as can be in the stroller!
She gets soo excited when I walk through the door in the afternoons and it is so fun to see her little legs and arms flapping as fast as they can go. She repeats this when Dad gets home and loves to give him little hugs. She will just grab at his sleeve or back as he's setting his things down until he holds her for a minute. Her hugs consist of her laying her little head down on your chest and it is awfully sweet. She still waves backwards and loves playing pat-a-cake. She has also started mimicking kiss noises but won't give them out and generally turns her cheek when we give her kisses.
Emma Kate has been teaching her (aka yelling at her) to fold her hands when we say prayers at dinner and just this week Caroline finally complied so EK is feeling very proud. She loves to pat her mouth and make noises. She doesn't really pay attention to cartoons on TV but if the hotdog song comes on from Mickey you can bet she stops what she is doing and starts dancing along!
She generally eats everything we are eating and I'd say her current favorites are blueberries, yogurt and taco meat. She kind of goes through waves where she eats a ton of something and then just refuses it for a few days. Also she will want to eat from the spoon for a bit and then will refuse food until she can pick it up herself. Hard to keep up with all these independent little ladies!
We had to go to the dr. for an ear infection last week and I think she weighed 18 lbs and 2 oz. She's wearing 9-12 month clothes and size 4 diaper.
